It's Couple's Night on American Gladiators

Tonight on American Gladiators, two couples competed for a shot at the semifinals. It's all about Eliminator times as a win doesn't guarantee you a spot. Jeff and Ally are newlyweds. Ally auditioned on her wedding day in her wedding veil. Aaron and Kendra have been married awhile, but work out and are in great shape.

The ladies were pretty tough and were only shut out in Skyswipe. They each scored three points in Powerball and took some licks. At the end, Steel nailed Kendra. I'm surprised she got up. Ally beat Jet up the Wall for ten points, Kendra was able to hold onto Crush's leg in Earthquake for five points, and Ally scored ten points and Kendra four points in Rocketball.

The guys also scored a bunch. Titan shut them out in the Joust, but they pretty much scored in all the other events. Aaron became the first male contender to score ten points on the Pyramid when Justice got a hold of his outfit and the top tore off. Jeff scored ten points on the Wall, they each beat Hurricane in Hang Tough for ten points apiece, and Aaron scored twelve points and Jeff seven in Rocketball.

We saw a fun, new event tonight called Sideswipe. In this event, the contenders had one minute to transfer balls from one end to the other, across five platforms, while three Gladiators swung, jungle-style, at them trying to knock them into the water. It's similar to Hit and Run, only instead of medicine balls, it's Gladiators coming at them.

On the men's side, Jeff was hesitant, but able to score four points. Aaron was more aggressive and he got seven points. He was funny. He and Wolf jawed at each other and he was playful with the ref, too. He interrupted the referee's start by telling him to wait a moment, after saying he was ready. The the ref retaliated by then asking “Prima Dona Ready?” instead of “Contender Ready?” and then “Killers ready?” instead of “Gladiators Ready?” Everyone laughed, including Jeff and all three Gladiators. For the ladies, neither looked comfortable, but Kendra was able to score four points and Ally three. Kendra took another shot when Phoenix nailed her to send her flying into the water.

Then it was time for the Eliminator. Aaron took an eight point lead into this event, so he had a four second head start. They both started strong, and Jeff took the lead on the handbike with Aaron right on his tail. Jeff started pulling away on the zipline and won the event in 1:34 to put him at the top of the Leaderboard and sending Melvin, the Chicago cop, home.

Ally took a ten point lead into the Eliminator, giving her a five second head start. She started strong and never lost her lead. She gave Kendra a couple of opportunities to catch up, first at the rope swing, then at the handbike, but Kendra couldn't do it. Ally made it up the Travelator on her first attempt and won in 2:08, joining her husband at the top of the Leaderboard. Her time knocked Melissa off the Leaderboard and sent her home.

Next week on American Gladiators, all four contenders had major weight losses and a new Gladiator is introduced. Also two more winners go home.
