DeAnna Makes Her Choice on The Bachelorette

Tonight DeAnna had a difficult decision to make. She could choose Jason, the mature, dependable one or Jesse, the fun, rad one. Those two guys are just so different. I've liked both guys from the beginning, but, honestly, neither one of them was my first choice for her.

Before she made her pick, however, she took both guys home to meet her family. Jason had the first meeting with her dad, brother and sister and he made a great impression. Jason is such a gentleman. His mama raised him right. Jesse, however, was so nervous. His nervousness caused him to not be natural with them. The next day, they both met her extended family. She has a fun grandma, not as much fun as the grandma from a few seasons ago, but fun. Instead of meeting them one at a time, though, they met them together. Can you say awkward?

What kept striking me was that when talking about Jason, she kept harping on feeling safe, that he was dependable and a good father, but when talking about Jesse, she kept talking about how much fun she had with him. Her grandmother told Jason that he was her pick, her sister and sister-in-law were split. My impression was that her dad preferred Jason, too.

After returning to Grand Bahamas Island, the guys had one more opportunity to sway her. And then the moments of truth. Both guys got rings and were prepared to propose to her. Jason came first, so we knew then that he wasn't her pick. He got down on one knee, but she stopped him before he could propose. His heartbreak was mine.

Then it was Jesse's turn. He asked her to spend forever with him and she said yes. They are really cute together. There were rumors of Jesse being in touch with his prior girlfriend while in the house, but he looks to be totally smitten with DeAnna. When he was on Made earlier in the year, he was living with another woman. Will this work out? Time will tell.

Then there was the After the Final Rose show. I was heartbroken again for Jason. Chris Harrison was kind of off putting to me when questioning him and then when Jason got to question DeAnna, she tried to backpedal on things she'd said. Why she's no better than Brad because she definitely led Jason on.

Anyway, we got to see Shayne and Matt again. They are so cute together. They crack me up. Chris asked them about the rumors swirling and they laughed them off, including the one about Matt only doing the show and picking Shayne for a green card.

Then we got to see DeAnna and Jesse again. They're in love and engaged, and they've set a wedding date: May 9, 2009. As a gift, the show got them tickets to Greece for their honeymoon. They really look happy, but I'll leave you with this question: Why did ABC cancel the Engagement Party show for next week?

No Kidding! That is my question, why is no one else talking about this?? Why did ABC cancel the "engagement party" a couple days ago, that was set to air July 14 without any explaination and then air some re-run bachelor special from last March. Did they break up already? The "after the final rose" was a separate show, which aired last night on the 7th. My Tivo was set to ALSO record the "engagement party" on the 14th but it is now cancelled. Strange, no? I can't think of any reason they would choose to cancel it and run a re-run instead....hmmmm....another bachelor couple down the tubes?
